Four people shot in Washington, DC, near Capitol building
D.C. police said four people were shot Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of North Capitol Street and New York Avenue in Northeast Washington.
Police said the victims have been taken to the hospital. A bike officer was also struck by a car at the scene. A spokesman for D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services also confirmed that the agency was on the scene.
A SWAT team responded to the shooting, which occurred near Tyler House, a subsidized apartment building where 13 people were shot in a single incident in 2013. The shooting also occurred near the Big Ben Liquor store.
Eastbound traffic on New York Avenue was moving, but westbound traffic was stopped at Florida Avenue.
