A motorcycle crash on Powers Boulevard prompted police to shut down the road between Airport Road and Platte Avenue for two hours on Sunday.

Colorado Springs police said that two motorcycles were likely racing down southbound powers just before 3 p.m. when they struck the center median.

Both motorcycles crashed in the northbound lanes, and both riders were injured and taken to a hospital.

Police did not know the extent of the riders’ injuries.

From 3 to 5 p.m., both the south and northbound lanes were closed while the police’s major accident unit investigated the crash.
