Ramsey blog: 4 ways that Manning’s recent playoff performances are unsettling for Broncos
Jack Dempsey
A look at Peyton Manning’s playoff performances since he led the Indianapolis Colts to the 2006 Super Bowl title:
1. His record in playoffs: 4-7 with five one-and-dones. In other words, Manning was quarterback five times when the Colts and Broncos failed to win a single game in the playoffs.
2. His homefield record in playoffs: 4-4. In 2007, Manning and the Colts lost, 28-24, to a Chargers team that finished the game without Philip Rivers and LaDanian Tomlinson. In 2010, Manning and the Colts scored only 16 points in a loss to the Jets. In 2012, Manning and the Broncos lost to the Ravens in overtime. In 2014, Manning and the Broncos sleepwalked to a loss to the Colts.
3. His worst performance in playoffs: A tough pick, but I’m going with 2008 when Manning and the Colts scored only seven points in the second half and overtime in a one-and-done loss at San Diego.
4. His playoff statistics in this decade: He’s 2-4 while completing 163 of 243 passes for 1,636 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions. He’s averaged 272.6 passing yards per game in the playoffs in this decade.
