Doherty 97, Lincoln 55

At Doherty: Brevin Brimble made eight 3-pointers en route to a game-high 30 points, and Doherty scored its most points in nearly a decade as the Spartans routed Lincoln.

Kayden Washington scored 16 points, while BJ Hardy added 15 and Dalven Brushier chipped in with 14 for the Spartans (7-2), who dished out 32 assists.

“That’s just unselfish kids playing together,” Spartans coach Jarris Krapcha said. “Brevin was locked in ready to go, and when you can shoot the ball like that from 3, it opens everything else up. When we’re sharing it, we’re hard to guard.”

Monday’s scoring output was the most points by a Doherty team since beating Sand Creek 105-68 on Feb. 1, 2007.

Doherty took control in the second quarter, outscoring the Lancers 26-11 that turned an eight-point edge into a 40-19 cushion.

“We had to settle down and value the ball,” Krapcha said. “We felt like if we executed properly, we could get what we wanted.”

Silver Creek 68, Woodland Park 58

At Johnstown: The numbers might not show it, but things are slowly turning around in Woodland Park’s favor.

Powered by a 20-9 advantage in the third quarter, Silver Creek (5-3) rallied past Woodland Park (1-6) at the Roughrider Shootout.

“You’re never happy with a loss, but I like where the kids are headed,” said second-year Panthers coach John Paul Geniesse, whose squad went 0-23 last season. “Their energy is contagious. It’s exciting to see where they are as a team. We’ve got to get better defensively and take care of the ball, but we’re right there.”

The Panthers, paced by a 19-point effort from Skye Ciccarelli and 17 from Dominik Cunico, led 31-29 at halftime and cut a double-digit deficit to six with less than three minutes left in regulation.

Pueblo South 56, Falcon 49

At Pueblo South: Despite a game-high 20 points from Noah Saunders, Falcon couldn’t deal Pueblo South its first loss.

Reese Warren added nine points for the Falcons (3-6), who got within 45-42 with just under five minutes left.

Pueblo South improved to 9-0.

FNE Warriors 68, Sand Creek 43

At Sand Creek: The Far Northeast Warriors continued their unbeaten run against 4A teams in a nonleague road win.

The Warriors (7-2) have lost only to 5A Rocky Mountain and Rock Canyon.

Sand Creek, which fell to 5-3, meets Lewis-Palmer on Wednesday in the league opener.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Pueblo South 61, Falcon 52

At Falcon: Khiya Adams scored a team-high 23 points, but Falcon stumbled late in a nonleague loss to the Colts.

Falcon (4-5) was outscored 21-10 in the fourth quarter.

Jade Adams added nine points for the Falcons, who led 27-23 at halftime and 42-40 after three quarters.

Niwot 42, Woodland Park 26

At Johnstown: Woodland Park (0-6) couldn’t overcome a slow start, falling behind 11-2 early and never recovering at the Roughrider Shootout.

Nikki Kemp had eight points, including two 3-pointers, for the Panthers.

Palmer Ridge 44, TCA 27

At Palmer Ridge: Sam Rippley poured in a game-high 17 points as Palmer Ridge (4-2) shut down TCA (3-4).

HOCKEY

Pine Creek 8, Palmer 4

At Sertich: Noah Cunniff and Alexander Brooks each scored twice as Pine Creek never trailed in a Peak Conference victory.

Riley Gregory and Trae Miller had a goal and two assists apiece for the Eagles (4-1, 3-1), who built a 5-1 lead, only to see Trey Aragon highlight a three-goal rally with two short-handed goals in 16 seconds to bring Palmer (0-6, 0-6) to within 5-4 at the second intermission.

Brooks, Cunniff and Gregory scored for Pine Creek in the third period.

Doherty 5, Rampart 0

At Sertich: Scott Sellers had two goals, and Doherty killed off six power plays in dominating Rampart.

Sellers and Griffin Chapa scored 1:25 apart in the first period to give the Spartans (3-3, 3-2 Peak Conference) all the scoring they would need. Sellers added another goal in the second period, then Tyler Gard and Drew Luebbers added to the lead with goals in the third period.

Chase Allen stopped 32 of 37 shots for Rampart (2-6, 1-4), while Colin Lefebvere recorded a 17-save shutout for the Spartans.
