Colorado Springs area has many holiday tea options
With all the rush, rush of the festive season, what better way to take a breather than with a cup of tea? Why not make it a pot? You can do just that at several locations where holiday teas are being offered. Reservations required. Here’s a look at a few:
– Cherokee Ranch & Castle, 6113 N. Daniels Park Road, Sedalia, offers holiday tea at 1 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 2 p.m. Saturdays. Closed Dec. 22 and 24 to 28. Cost is $50 per person. Details: 303-688-5555, cherokeeranch.org.
– Glen Eyrie Castle, 3820 N. 30th St., offers the Yule Tea at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., (check website for dates). For $29 per person tea is served in the Music Room, which is a smaller dining room where you get an appetizer, entrée, sweets and a selection of teas. For $34 per person you can enjoy tea in the Great Hall, which is a larger space where entertainment is included. Details: 265-7050, gleneyrie.org.
– The Margarita at PineCreek, 7350 Pine Creek Road, has its holiday tea 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 19. For $27 per person you get a selection of teas, savory bites and homemade pastries. Details: 598-8667, online at margaritaatpinecreek.com.
– Miramont Castle Museum, 9 Capitol Hill Ave., Manitou Springs, in the Queen’s Parlour Tearoom 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays, you can have a four-course tea ($35 per person), or light Victorian three-course tea ($26 per person). Details: 884-4109, miramont castle.org.
– Wisdom Tea House, 65 Second St., Monument, offers its Holiday Tea 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays for ages 10 and older. For $30 per person you get an assortment of savory and sweet treats. Details: 481-8822, wisdomteahouse.com.
Colorado wines
The Sweet Elephant at Vino Colorado Cellars has two locations where you can sample a large collection of Colorado wines: 2502 W. Colorado Ave. and 1605 Briargate Parkway in the Promenade Shops at Briargate. They offer private parties and paint classes as well as food and wine pairing events. Sweet houses
Michael Paradiso, culinary arts department chair at Pikes Peak Community College, with his culinary students has created the Gingerbread Village. The musical display is on the second level of Chapel Hills Mall at the Dillard’s entrance until Dec. 13.
Openings
Enoteca Rustica, 2527 W. Colorado Ave., is located upstairs from Pizzeria Rustica. “Enoteca Rustica,” according to the Pizzeria Rustica’s newsletter, means wine bar (or store) in Italian. It’s a small space that seats about 44 people and will be a wine bar, cocktail bar, craft beer bar, antipasti bar and dessert room. Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays in December.

New takeout bakery
The Cañon City Queen Anne Gourmet Bakery, 813 Macon Ave., Cañon City, is an online service. Visit thecanoncity queenanne.com to find a link to an order form and selections that are available. Orders are taken Tuesday through Thursday for pickups prior to 10 a.m. on the following Friday or Saturday. The menu includes heart-shaped cinnamon roll dessert, giant pecan sticky buns, scones, chocolate chip pecan cookies, mini bundt cakes, pies, German kuchen butter pecan coffee cake and brownies. Guests on the “KVOR Table Talk” radio show at 1 p.m. Saturday:
– Samantha Wood, owner of Rocky Mountain Food Tours, talks about the various tours she offers, including the new Holiday Brunch Tour, 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays, Dec. 12, 19 and 26. – Dave Brackett, proprietor of Pizzeria Rustica, 2527 W. Colorado Ave., and Jay Gust, general manager and executive chef at Tapateria, 2607 W. Colorado Ave., talk about Enoteca Rustica, a new expansion of their restaurant group located above Pizzeria Rustica. (See previous item.)
