The moon takes on a reddish tint as it hangs over the Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel in Colorado Springs, Colo. during a total lunar eclipse Sunday night, September 27, 2015. The eclipse occurs when the earth is positioned between the sun and the moon and the hue gives it the name blood moon. Sunday night's eclipse occurred at a time when the moon was near it's closest point to the earth. Hundreds of spectators got their wish early in the morning on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009 in Memorial Park as a near perfect breeze and clear skies made for a mass launch of balloons, on time, for the final day of the 33rd annual Colorado Balloon Classic. Many of the balloons skimmed and dipped Prospect Lake to the roaring cheers of hundreds of people aligning the shore. The first day was cancelled because of weather and Sunday's launch was delayed.
