UCCS police officer’s funeral set for Friday at Colorado Springs church

The funeral for Officer Garrett Swasey, a university police officer who was killed Friday in a shooting rampage at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic, will be Friday at New Life Church.

The services will begin at 1 p.m. at the church, 11025 Voyager Parkway. Gov. John Hickenlooper, Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers, and University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak and Police Chief Brian McPike will speak.

A motorcade will travel to the reception, planned for 4 p.m. at Berger Hall on the UCCS campus.

A shuttle to the memorial service will be provided for UCCS faculty, staff and students and buses will leave from the lower level of the El Pomar Center at noon and return to campus after the service. To reserve a seat, contact Jim Spice, at 255-3058 or jspice@uccs.edu.
