More than a million holiday lights at Broadmoor and Seven Falls

The Broadmoor and The Broadmoor Seven Falls will blaze up the holiday season with more than a million white lights.

More than 3,000 people are expected Saturday at the 30th annual White Lights Ceremony and Love Lights a Tree for the American Cancer Society at The Broadmoor and Broadmoor West. Winter Lights opens at Seven Falls on Sunday.

“It’s a great way to bring the community and The Broadmoor together,” says Jack Damioli, The Broadmoor’s president and CEO. “It’s a wonderful way to give back.”

This year’s theme, “Wilderness Experience,” pays homage to the opening of the Broadmoor Fishing Camp and The Broadmoor’s acquisition of Seven Falls. Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, musical entertainment and a performance by the cast of the Fine Arts Center’s new production of “White Christmas” will be on hand before and after the ceremony Saturday.

Over at Broadmoor West red holiday lights will represent the 23rd annual partnership of the hotel with the ACS. Representatives will collect donations in honor and in memory of those with cancer. The Empty Stocking Fund, which provides resources for local health and human service agencies in the Pikes Peak region, will also join the event for the third year.

About 100,000 lights will decorate the trees around Seven Falls. Activities include an elf scavenger hunt for kids, visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, hot chocolate, cider and strolling carolers.

Damioli’s favorite part is the kids’ reaction to all the lights and the arrival of Santa.

“And just the goodwill everyone has during the holidays,” he says. “It’s a fun time to be at The Broadmoor.”
