November 28 & December 5
Small Town Christmas
10 a.m.-2 p.m. both days in Downtown Historic Monument
In its twenty-second year, Small Town Christmas has become a delightful tradition for Monument families and visitors alike. Free activities include holiday crafting and hayrides through town, and guests can also enjoy music from area high-school carolers.
“We always get great participation from the local schools,” said Tommie Plank, owner of Covered Treasures Bookstore, located at 105 2nd Street in Monument. “Kids from the Key Club will also play Santa’s elves.” Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit on December 5 only. Activity maps can be found in any of the Downtown Monument businesses.
Small Town Christmas is organized by members of the Downtown Historic Monument Merchants Association.
“This has become an extremely important group for business owners, especially downtown,” said Plank, president of the Association. “People love living here and we want to promote that small-town feeling. This is what Christmas is all about.” The group hosts a myriad of free, public events throughout the year, including an outdoor summer concert series.
