Colorado Springs police arrested a 12-year-old in connection with a massive carport fire earlier this month that destroyed several cars in an apartment complex on Baytown Drive.

On Nov. 11, the fire consumed one of the carports in an apartment complex, and shot flames several feet into the air before crews could extinguish the blaze.

A neighbor told firefighters that he had seen two kids playing with lighters in a pile of leaves before the fire started.

No homes were damaged and no one was injured.

Police investigators suspect that child who was arrested had been playing with a lighter in the area before the fire spread.
