Leadership Pikes Peak (LLP) is now recruiting for the Women’s Community Leadership Initiative (WCLI) class of 2016.

WCLI is a leadership program in which women of all ages and diverse backgrounds come together to cultivate their leadership skills. The program also provides participants with a greater understanding of the key issues facing our community and affords them the opportunity to meet community leaders and be mentored by women who have graduated from the WCLI program. Participants are also encouraged to discover and pursue their passions, utilizing them to make a difference in the Colorado Springs community.

WCLI will meet from 5:30-8:30 p.m. every other Wednesday from January-June 2016 at various key locations around Colorado Springs. Each session focuses on two themes: developing leadership skills, like communication styles and project management, and knowledge of community sectors, like health care and education. The WCLI program culminates in a community project that participants complete with fellow team members.

The WCLI program often has a life-changing effect on its participants. Graduates have reported a higher level of self-confidence and more developed interpersonal skills in their careers and at home. Many have gone on to pursue higher education and have worked to make a positive difference in the community, from volunteering in their children’s schools to joining nonprofit boards.

WCLI is tuition free, childcare stipends are available and dinner is provided for each participant. The application deadline for the class of 2016 is November 13. For more information or to apply, visit leadershippikespeak.org.
