Saddle up, cowpokes and cowgirls, and the 300 guests at The Resource Exchange’s Wild Wild West Roundup did just that.

There were Western duds, line dancing, rope tricks, boots ‘n’ spurs, plates of barbecue and lots of yee-haws at the ProRodeo Hall of Fame for the late-September event.

To go along with the fun, more than $50,000 was raised for TRE’s work with 4,000 area residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Drawing a standing ovation was the TRE Gotta Dance Troupe. The wild and crazy acting troupe from Funky Little Theater Co. provided dance-hall girls, magic tricks and Western frivolity.

Joining Executive Director David Ervin, including participating in some enthusiastic line dances, were board members Warren Wieland, Lisa Wieland, Sarah Brittain Jack, Joe Doyle, Ron Rubin, Chris Reynolds and Heidi Brandon.

Addressing TRE’s mission, Ervin told guests, “For more than 50 years, we have dedicated ourselves to become a trusted resource for people with IDD and their families. And as we look to the future, we know that demand for our services – which has grown dramatically over the past 10 years, during which time TRE has more than doubled the number of people we support – will grow. We dedicate ourselves to the essential purpose of growing ahead of demand, and to support people with IDD and their families when, where and how they need us.”

The Wild Wild West Roundup committee was made up of Garry Butcher, Beth Byer, Ann Carlisle, Kathie Cool, Julie Cox, Jessica Crum, Trivian Dickard, Stephanie Edwards, Laura Emmott, Sheila Ferguson, Candy Harman, Cookie Little, Diane Loschen, Laura Martin, Michele Pribble, Martie Stott, Ginger Stringer and Kathy Weiner.
