State patrol: 2 motorcyclists die in separate El Paso County crashes

Two motorcyclists were killed in separate crashes Tuesday on Interstate 25 in El Paso County.

Justin Aspuria, 28, was clocked on stationary radar going 101 mph just before 10 a.m. on southbound Interstate 25, according to a news release from the Colorado State Patrol. A Colorado State trooper tried to catch the motorcycle with lights flashing, but Aspuria had crashed into a road sign on the North Gate Boulevard exit ramp when the trooper next saw the motorcycle.

The trooper began life saving measures on Aspuria who was wearing a helmet. Aspuria, of Colorado Springs, died at Penrose Hospital.

Three hours later, troopers headed to a crash on the southbound on-ramp in Monument, according to a release from the State Patrol.

Ester Robinson, 49, drove off the right side of the road on her motorcycle and hit the guardrail. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Robinson, of Monument, was not wearing a helmet.
