Man acquitted of attempted murder on police officer
A man who allegedly lunged at a police officer with an “edged weapon” in March was acquitted Wednesday of attempted murder of a peace officer, court records show.
Jeffrey Bricker, 27, was found guilty of the lesser charge of unlawful use of a controlled substance.
In March, Colorado Springs police said Bricker barricaded himself inside a bathroom in a business in the 300 block of South Academy Boulevard, then he lunged at police when the door was opened.
The blade deflected off an officer’s bulletproof vest and he was not injured.
Bricker was sentenced to two years of probation.
