Colorado Springs Asian restaurant has plenty of dishes to like
U-Like, 3680 Citadel Drive North, a new Asian buffet, has opened serving a wide array dishes including sushi.
Lunch buffet is 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for $7.99 per adult and $3.99 per child (3-10); tea time buffet is 3:30 to 4 p.m. for $9.49 per adult and $4.69 per child; dinner buffet is 4-9 p.m. for $10.99 per adult and $5.69 per child; and Sundays and holiday buffets are noon to 9 p.m. for $10.99 per adult and $5.69 per child.

Learning from Luck
Brother Luck, owner of Brother Luck Street Eats, teaches a cooking class at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Savory Spice Shop, 110 N. Tejon St. The menu includes duck prosciutto-wrapped figs, butternut squash soup with five-spice popcorn, herb-roasted lamb with roasted apple risotto and pumpkin pie ice cream. Cost is $35 and must be paid in advance to reserve a seat. Call 633-8803.
Oktoberfest
Jens-Uwe Dethlefsen is cooking one of his famous German menus for the Oktoberfest at the Elk Lodge, 3400 N. Nevada Ave., at 5 p.m. Saturday. For $20 per person you get rotisserie chicken, German knackwurst, barbecue ribs, German potato salad. Uwe-style sauerkraut, jumbo salted pretzel, Kaiser and poppy seed dinner roll and Black Forest cake. A Pueblo-based polka band is included. Cash bar. Parking on west side of lodge. Calling good students
If you’re a good student here’s a deal for you: iT’Z Family Fun & Food, 3035 New Center Point, will reward students with card points when they show off their first report card of the year.
All A’s are worth five points and all B’s are worth two points. There’s a maximum of five grades per report card and offer is valid within 30 days of the report card date.
Jewish fest
The Mizel Arts and Culture Center at the Jewish Community Center in Denver is having its annual JAAMM Festival, which includes “The Food for Thought” presentation by Jessica Fechtor, who will be talking about food, life and healing. She is the author of the food blog Sweet Amandine and her memoir “Stir: My Broken Brain and the Meals that Brought Me Home.”
She will be sharing recipes and talking about how she healed from a burst brain aneurysm at 28. Also sharing her story will be Chef Rossi. Her new book, “The Raging Skillet: the True Life Story of Chef Rossi,” is a memoir with recipes about Rossi’s story of moving from “wayward” living to serving as a first responder at ground zero.
Rossi is an author, blogger, radio host and chef/owner of the award-winning New York City catering company The Raging Skillet. Cost is $15 per person and $12 for students and seniors. Details: 1-303-316-6360, maccjcc.org/jaamm-festival.
