Klee blog: Coors Field is the Colorado Rockies’ issue, Chapter 27
David Zalubowski
At some point the Rockies will come around. They will see this and this and this and move the fences and rearrange the dimensions and take steps toward becoming a respectable baseball organization.
The latest evidence Coors Field is a major part of their problem surfaced last week. Kyle Kendrick, whose struggles have been well-documented, pitched serviceably.
Twice.
On the road.
Then Kendrick returned to Coors Field and promptly put up a clunker. But how much evidence do we need to prove their beautiful ballpark is holding the Rockies’ back?
As it is configured now, Coors Field will never be home to a consistent winner.
It’s not the only issue, of course. But if baseball is ruled by pitching, and almost no one has pitched winning baseball at Coors Field, isn’t it time to examine their home park?
I suspect Walt Weiss, Tommy Runnels and other men leading the Rockies are going to get a long, hard look this offseason. First up should be the ballpark.
