The El Paso County Commissioners spent Wednesday on the road touring road projects on the county’s eastern plains.

The commissioners’ work session on wheels took them to several areas that had been washed out or heavily damaged during record-breaking spring rains. One road, Pinto Pony Road, which once connected to Chief Road off the Falcon Highway, was completely washed out and months later looks like a dry riverbed. The road is now a dead end for local drivers.

The commissioners and interested members of the public also toured culvert projects on Rock Island Trail and Judge Orr Road, among others.

The day’s tour ended in a change for those on the tour to try their hand at driving some heavy equipment.
