Klee blog: Peyton Manning’s Broncos the underdog? Believe it
Filed under Big Foot’s whereabouts, Clayton Kershaw’s weakness, Jessica Alba’s bad side, is this juicy nugget: Peyton Manning’s Broncos are an underdog to an AFC West opponent.
The Chiefs are expected to beat the Broncos. That’s according to Las Vegas bettors, who pegged Kansas City as a three-point favorite against Denver for Thursday night.
Recent history suggests Broncos Country should be mumbling a Tim Kurkjian giggle. Manning is 13-1 against the Chiefs. The Broncos own a ridiculous (and NFL record-tying) 12-game road game winning streak against the AFC West. Alex Smith (and I remain a cautious fan) still quarterbacks in Kansas City. Last but hardly least, it’s the Chiefs.
Such is the power of Peyton Manning. The focus is on the quarterback, his struggles, and not the biggest storyline of this young Broncos season, their defense. You can count on one hand the number of times the Broncos have earned the underdog label in the Manning era.
Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium is one.
