Ramsey blog: Is Tim Tebow a 3rd-string NFL quarterback? (Maybe)

Colts Eagles Football

When we last saw Tim Tebow a couple years ago, he was a borderline NFL quarterback. There’s no doubt he’s an NFL athlete. His problem was, is and always will be his left arm.

Yesterday, Tebow emerged from NFL exile in an exhibition game for the Philadelphia Eagles.

And guess what?

He’s still on the brink.

He’s still, after extensive work on his throwing motion, a borderline NFL quarterback.

If Tebow had chosen to play linebacker in,  say, the 11th grade, he would have spent a dozen years as an NFL starter, knocking ball carriers flat and then saying “God Bless You” as he helped them up. He’s big, fast, tough, strong and competes with a matchless work ethic.

But his arm is lacking, by NFL standards.

Will Tebow make the Eagles roster?

He has a decent chance.

Will Tebow play more than a few downs in this NFL season?

Probably not.
