Colorado Springs residents like to live large, study finds
Living large is a favorite pastime in Colorado Springs.
Realtor.com, part of the National Association of Realtors, has released a new study that examined which cities have the biggest and smallest single-family homes and condos. The study is based on an analysis of 1.8 million homes and condos listed for sale; the result was a pair of lists of the top 10 cities with the biggest and smallest homes, based on median square footage.
Colorado Springs ranked No. 4 on the list of cities with the biggest homes. Its median home size of 2,555 square feet placed it just behind Aurora, with 2,900 square feet; Plano, Texas, 2,817 square feet; and Scottsdale, Ariz., 2,584 square feet.
The city with the tiniest homes? Jersey City, N.J., which had a median home size of 1,019 square feet.
