The American Red Cross will make a major push to save lives through the Home Fire Campaign that strives to reduce fatalities caused by homefires. Volunteers, along with 600 cadets from the Air Force Academy, will be out testing smoke alarms and installing free smoke alarms in homes throughout El Paso, Teller and Pueblo Counties. Volunteers from the community are needed to help with this effort. Red Cross is also looking for people to loan small ladders and portable drills to help with the installations. The Youth Transformation Center is looking for volunteers to help throughout this academic year to facilitate restorative justice circles in some D-11 schools. After an 8-hour training, the time commitments include up to three hours/week. Ideal volunteers include people who live in D-11, are interested in learning about restorative justice and are committed to youth reaching their highest potential.
