WATCH: Rockies’ top prospect seriously injured in collision, dad says
PHILADELPHIA — David Dahl, the Rockies’ first-round draft pick in 2012 and one of their top prospects, was seriously injured during a game Thursday after he collided with another player in the outfield.
“He was involved in a collision in a game. And that’s really all we can say at this point,” said Zach Wilson, the Rockies’ assistant general manager in charge of player development.
Dahl, 21, was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery on his spleen, his father, Mike Dahl, told the Mobile (Ala.) Press-Register.
On the play, Dahl came in from center field on a shallow fly ball and collided with New Britain Rock Cats second baseman Juan Ciriaco, the Press-Register reported.
“He got hit in the face, the nose, the spleen, a bunch of different places, but that’s the main thing right now,” Mike Dahl told the paper.
