The federal government has fired another round of criticisms at Lance Armstrong, describing him as a calculating manipulator who hides the truth even when he confesses to doping or gets in a minor car accident.

In new court documents filed Friday, the government said the former cyclist is an “unreliable source of information” who has carefully managed his doping admissions to avoid telling the whole truth about his vast web of deception, according to USA Today.

The government also restated its interest in his recent car accident cover-up in Aspen, Colo., saying that it “undermines any suggestion that Armstrong changed his ways after he confessed to Oprah Winfrey.”

In response, Armstrong’s attorney, Elliot Peters, said the government was resorting to “character assassination” of his client to prop up its civil fraud lawsuit against him. Government attorneys filed the documents Friday as part of that $100 million case.
