Mike Rowe of “Dirty Jobs” fame is going to hit the ice for his show “Somebody’s Gotta Do It.”

I saw a tweet about this a while ago.

Here’s a link to the preview. Funny stuff.

It appears that Olympian Craig Brown and his dad, Steve, who is a national team coach (and who has done an outstanding job working with disabled vets around the country, including at our own clinic here in Colorado) are Mike Rowe’s instructors.

You can’t get much better than that!

In January, Rowe wrote a blog post titled “The Magnetic Pull of the Curl & Pain of the Squat.”

It reads:

“They tell me that tomorrow morning, I’ll probably fall off the toilet.

They tell me the pain will be exquisite – not from crapping – but from simply squatting.

They tell me that bending down to tie my shoes will redefine my understanding of pain, and that putting on my pants will open new dimensions of agony previously untapped by any other athletic event known to man.

They assure me I’ll return to my bed and curl up like a baby girl, trembling with shock and regret, ruing the day I decided to curl, but forever enchanted by the magnetic pull of this strange and wondrous sport.

“I’ll let you know.”

Soon, we’ll all find out how Rowe’s curling session unfolded!

Are YOU someone who’s gotta do it?

If so, come curl with me at The Broadmoor World Arena Ice Hall on Sunday, May 3, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Cost is $30, and you can sign up at the Broadmoor Curling Club’s website.

If you have any questions about it, email me at dena.rosenberry@gazettedev.gazette.com or call me at 719-237-6679.

If you just want to watch – and cheer my team to victory, perhaps – head over to the Ice Hall this weekend (April 24-26), for the Broadmoor Curling Club’s 10th annual High Altitude Bonspiel (tournament). There will be 4-5 games going at any one time, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Cheers, and good curling!

Follow me on Twitter (curling and so much more).
