BLOG: I love it when the rocks go boom!
As much as viewers love a finesse shot in curling, they also love it when a team goes after its opponent and “moves some granite.”
There’s the crack as two or three or four stones collide, and rocks flash across the ice.
(Here’s an amazing shot from late last year at the Masters Grand Slam – triple raise takeout!)
You can catch the action in person Friday, Saturday and Sunday at The Broadmoor World Arena Ice Hall as 24 teams from across the continent compete at the Broadmoor Curling Club’s 10th annual High Altitude Bonspiel. Games will be played all day, with the finals at 2 p.m. Sunday.
(I apologize: This blog didn’t update like I thought it would. NOW, here’s the schedule for the bonspiel, or curling tournament.)

Air Academy scored twice in the final 53 seconds to rally to beat Rampart 13-12 at the K-Dome on Wednesday. The Rams scored five consecutive goals to grab a 12-11 lead with less than five minutes to play. But Taylor Christensen scored with three seconds left to give the Kadets the win.
