Power outages reported at various D.C. area buildings, White House

WASHINGTON — More than 750 Potomac Electric Power Company customers are without power in D.C. on Tuesday afternoon, according to an outage map. There are also reports of power outages in parts of Maryland, including some University of Maryland offices.

Some Metro stations were operating their emergency lighting and some offices at the University of Maryland have lost power, according to tweets.

The power also reportedly went out while Oprah Winfrey was talking at the dedication ceremony for the Maya Angelo postage stamp.

Other buildings reporting power outages included the U.S. State Department and the White House.
