Colorado Springs student accused of biting officer during confrontation

A Pikes Peak Pathways student allegedly hit, kicked and bit a police officer on Friday, according to Colorado Springs police.

The student, who has not been named because he is a juvenile, had been causing a disturbance involving a violation of school rules, police said. The student moved toward the officer aggressively and then attacked the officer when detained.

Pikes Peak Pathways, on South Circle Drive, is a day treatment center that provides mental health and educational services and behavioral support to students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

The officer sustained minor injuries but did not need medical attention. The student was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault on a peace officer and was booked into Spring Creek Juvenile Detention Facility.
