Ex-players believe Peyton Manning can adapt to Gary Kubiak’s offense

Gary Kubiak played 123 games in his career with the Broncos. He started five. And yet he impressed teammates by preparing every week as if he was going to be under center. So when the Broncos’ first-year coach says he can design a playbook for Peyton Manning, eyes don’t roll. The two are like-minded in their mental approach.

Kubiak spent time over the past six weeks meshing his offensive terminology with the system Manning used the past three seasons. Kubiak doesn’t agree with skeptics who believe his scheme won’t work for Manning, pointing to the success Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco had under Kubiak last season when he was the Ravens’ offensive coordinator.

“I hear that all the time (with the bootlegs). You’d think that we bootlegged 10 times a game.
