Fast-growing Dickey’s Barbecue Pit will open its third Colorado Springs location at 11 a.m. Thursday at 811 Cheyenne Meadows Road on the city’s southwest side. The Texas-based, fast-casual chain also has local restaurants at 1466 Garden of the Gods Road and 4146 Austin Bluffs Parkway.

The newest Dickey’s plans a three-day barbecue bash of sorts to celebrate its opening. On Thursday, the first 50 customers will receive gift cards worth up to $50; $2 pulled-pork sandwiches will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday; and T-shirts, sunglasses, tote bags and other items will be given away Saturday. Also, around 12:45 p.m. Friday, one winner will receive a $500 gift card and three others will receive free barbecue for a year.

Dickey’s, a family-run chain, dates to 1941. It has 487 locations in 42 states, nearly all of which are franchised.
