Colorado Springs motorcyclist injured in U.S. 24 crash

A Colorado Springs man was critically injured in a motorcycle crash that blocked U.S. 24 for several hours Sunday, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Ronald Watson, 69, was westbound on U.S. 24about 11:45 a.m. when he failed to make a left-hand curve and lost control of his 2012 Harley Davidson, state patrol said.

Watson, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered serious head injuries and taken to Penrose Main Hospital, Sgt. Scott Hophan said. Watson was listed in critical condition Sunday night, Penrose spokesman Chris Valentine said.

The right lane of U.S. 24 was closed for about 2½ hours.
