Colorado Springs police will offer a class for the public to learn more about the department’s school resource and juvenile gang prevention programs on Thursday.

Attendants will get an overview of police programs to keep schools safe, how juvenile gangs are addressed and the efforts police are making to prevent them.

The class is not a result of increased gang activity at local schools, but a way for the public to learn how police school resource officers work in conjunction with school districts, Officer Bob Harris said.

The class will be held at the Stetson Hills police subdivision, 4110 Tutt Blvd., from 7-8 p.m. To attend, call 444-3168 or email harrisro@ci.colospgs.co.us to RSVP.
