Colorado Springs parents accused of child abuse

A husband and wife were held at the El Paso County jail Wednesday on accusations of abusing their 13-year-old son, according to Colorado Springs police.

Grant Clayton Idle, 54, was arrested on suspicion of crimes against an at-risk juvenile and child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, records show.

Michele Dawn Idle, 49, was arrested on suspicion of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

According to police, a school resource officer notified police detectives of a possible child abuse incident Sept. 2.
During the investigation, detectives found that Grant Idle had allegedly assaulted his son Aug. 28, fracturing the teen’s right clavicle and sending him to the hospital.

Grant Idle was interviewed by detectives on several occasions and was arrested Wednesday, police said.

Investigators alleged the victim’s mother had been aware that the child was possibly injured and did not seek medical attention, adding that she had known of other possible abuse situations. She was taken into custody Wednesday, police said.
