A string of wrecks in Colorado Springs and El Paso County tied up Tuesday morning’s commute and kept police and Colorado State Patrol busy.

The driver of a Ford F-350 was not injured when the pickup, pulling a utility bed, went off westbound U.S. 24 about 1 mile east of Cascade and rolled into a creek about 50 feet from the roadway, said Trooper Nate Reid.

The rollover was reported about 7:30 a.m. A second crash was reported about the same time from southbound Interstate 25 north of the Mesa Ridge Parkway exit when a motorcycle collided with a silver Jeep, Reid said.

The motorcyclist, a man from California, was taken to Penrose-St. Francis Hospital with unknown injuries and the driver of the Jeep was unharmed, Reid said.

In Colorado Springs, at least one person was ticketed after two separate crashes blocked the left lane of westbound Garden of the Gods Road, just east of Mark Dabling Boulevard, police said.

The first crash was reported about 7:15 a.m. and the second a few minutes later, said police Lt. Patricia Feese, adding there were no injuries.
