A man suffered life-threatening injuries when a car backed over him Wednesday morning in south Colorado Springs, according to police.

The victim was listed in stable condition at a hospital Thursday morning and was expected to recover , said police Lt. Catherine Buckley .

The driver, idenfitied as 47-year-old Michael Taylor , of Colorado Springs, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in connection to the 2:20 a.m. incident in the 400 block of Cheyenne Boulevard, east of 8th Street, said Buckley.

“Alcohol was definitely a factor in this incident, for both the driver and the pedestrian who was injured,” Buckley said.

Taylor allegedly backed over the victim in a poorly-lit access road leading to a parking area behind a residence on Cheyenne Boulevard, Buckley said.
