A Message From Sensei Eric: The Top 5 Ways to Prepare yourself to be a Back 2 School Super Mom

It has arrived! The moment every parent rejoices in – the back to school season. Although it might get a little busy for you in the next few weeks, afterwards you will enjoy a moment of quiet solitude. This has been the thing we as parents have been dreaming of since school got out back in May. And then it dawns on you “Are you prepared???”

1) Know your Specific Goals:

2) Create a Game plan:

Every successful coach, teacher, leader, entrepreneur, or super mom has created a game plan for the year. This doesn’t have to be extremely in depth but rather a thought out view of the year. This ties back into know your goals and expectations. When doing this, think about where you want them to spend their extra time. What kind of friends do you want them to have, what will be their inlets and outlets. Remember success begins and ends with culture this is why peer pressure can be a terrible thing or an amazing tool.

3) Utilize Social Media

We live in a new world of communication and information, so take advantage. Many teachers have automated text-messaging services that allow them to send parents daily homework or other information. Most schools have a Facebook page that they manage; and many teachers and schools put out weekly email newsletters. Ask your teachers or school administration for this information.

4) Schedule your Time

In order to succeed in life or business we learn to schedule personal time where we can recollect our thoughts, enjoy our family, and just have some fun. The only way we are able to accomplish this is to actually schedule it in. When we schedule our day it creates guilt free time to play with our kids, or read a book.

5) Get Help!

There is nothing wrong with using the many tools and resources out there available to families. We can’t do it all, nor should we have to. Getting help is OK! Throughout the thousands of years humans have been on this earth we have worked in groups and communities and it is only now in today’s society that we feel we have to do it all alone. The truth is, it takes a tribe to raise a child, but the best thing about modern times is you get to create your own tribe and be the chief. Some of my favorite programs for children and their development are school sports, Mind training programs such as Learning RX, and for behavior issues and character development there are programs like martial arts (personally I like 3T Karate but I am biased). These programs are out there specifically to help parents in this fast paced world.

Thanks for all your support
