Suspected drugs, guns recovered from Colorado Springs motel room after arrest
A robbery reported from a fast food restaurant in west Colorado Springs turned into a drugs and guns bust for police Tuesday night, police said.
About 11:30 p.m., a man reported he was beaten with a baseball bat and robbed at the Sonic Drive-in on the 3500 block of West Colorado Avenue, and told police the robbers had run to the nearby Ridgeview Motel off Ridge Road.
According to Colorado Springs police, the occupants of the motel room were heard collecting items and rushing to a back room when officers knocked on the door.
Police forced the door open and found suspected heroin and methamphetamine and several guns, police said.
Damon Johnson, 44, was arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of schedule I and II drugs, police said.
