A man and a dog were forced out of their home early Sunday morning after a fire destroyed their trailer at an RV park in Colorado Springs, fire officials said.

About 20 firefighters responded to a one-alarm fire at the Northwoods Village RV Park off West Fillmore Street and North Nevada Avenue about 4 a.m., Lt. Kriss Soppe said.

“The fire was completely under control within 20 minutes of arriving, but the camper trailer was severely damaged,” Soppe said.

The man and his dog were able to escape uninjured and the Red Cross helped them find alternate lodging.

Fire investigators were still investigating the cause of the blaze Sunday and no cause had been determined, Soppe said.
