Attempted first-degree suspects appear at El Paso County court

Trial dates were set Monday for two men accused of attempted first-degree murder.

Hamilton Lee Sullivan, 20, and Jorge Hernandez, 36, will stand trial for charges that also include robbery, sexual assault, kidnapping and arson, according to court documents.

They are accused of attacking a woman who was found alive by a passerby in Old Colorado City on Dec. 28. She had been shot in the head and her car set on fire, Colorado Springs police said.

The woman recovered and was able to help police identify her alleged attackers.

Investigators told the court during a preliminary hearing on April 21 that the victim had been with Sullivan and Hernandez at a party before the men allegedly got into an argument with her, made her leave the party and forced her into the back of her car.

A jury trial is set for Dec. 1 for Hernandez and Jan. 5 for Sullivan.

Both have pleaded not guilty to all charges. They are being held at the El Paso County jail on $1 million bonds, records show.
