Two men, one from Colorado Springs, hospitalized after rollover crash
Two men were hospitalized in Pueblo Sunday after a single-car rollover, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
Erik Trujillo, 23, of Colorado Springs, was driving northbound about 1 a.m. when his 1995 Chevrolet Impala went off the left side of Las Animas County Road 71.1, about two miles north of Trinidad, state patrol said. The state patrol said no emergency personnel were made aware of the crash until about 6 a.m.
The driver over-corrected to the right, causing the Impala to rotate clockwise and go off the right side of the road, where it rolled two-and-a-half times and came to a rest on its roof.
John Trujillo, 33, of Trinidad, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive, the state patrol said.
Erik Trujillo was not wearing a seat belt and was hospitalized for moderate injuries.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected, but exceeding the posted speed limit was determined to be a contributing factor in the crash, the state patrol said.
