A bomb threat prompted the evacuation of a Walmart store in west Colorado Springs on Sunday, police said.

The threat was reported about 4:45 p.m., said Colorado Springs Police Sgt. Mark Devorss.

Police announced the investigation was closed and the store was reopened shortly after 7 p.m.

The store located at 707 S. 8th Street was evacuated immediately. Walmart management asked police to conduct a thorough search of the building with K-9 units, Devorss said.

According to a tweet from police, the threat was determined to be a false alarm when K-9 units did not find any suspicious package or device.
