From reception you can see a meeting space and conference room. This area will be open to the public as a community meeting space. KOAA is still working on the scheduling of that service.Outside of the camera bay is a locker area which leads out to an open garage.In the conference room there’s a fire place. Thought that was a nice touch.After walking around the entryway, Evan showed me the basement. Here is a camera bay for on-location shoots.The revenue center is where KOAA has offices for their sales team.Back inside and still on the first floor, I toured the revenue center.Another shot of the outdoor area.From the garage there’s parking and an outdoor area where staff can take breaks or have lunch.There are also a number of conferences rooms for meetings.Here’s the first floor break room/staff lounge.This is the first floor. This is the reception desk you’ll see right as you walk into the new building.I got a kick out of the Nintendo Wii in the staff lounge.After completing my tour of the first floor I went upstairs.Here is the upstairs break room. The cookies on the table on the left were made by Lisa Lyden. Evan tells me she likes to cook and brings things in often.Here’s a wide shot of the newsroom. It’s an enormous semi-circle.Here’s the upstairs conference room. Meetings are held in here daily.Here’s a look outside. This deck area can be used for weather or promos.This room, right next to the upstairs conference room, is where KOAA can shoot outside shots within a stones throw of the studio.The first people I spotted in the newsroom were Rob Quirk and Lisa Lyden. Rob was happy to show off his Buffalo Bills coffee mug.Just outside of the break room is an exercise room. It only has a treadmill at the moment but there’ll be four machines in here eventually.This is what’s called the Rock Center. It’s a secondary area that compliments the main set.Took a quick selfie with Lisa and Rob.This jumbotron is to the right of the set. It’s 9x14ft.Here’s the right side of the Rock Center. There’s a desk on wheels that can move to any position on this set.Here’s a perspective of the walkway that goes around the content management center. The newsroom is on the left, Rock Center on the right, main set straight ahead.To the left of the jumbotron is a 70 inch touchscreen.Here’s the weather center to the left of the anchor desk.I interrupted weather anchor Mike Daniels to take a quick pic.A closeup look at one of the teleprompters.The KOAA key wall.The KOAA control room.Across from the weather center are 12 editing bays.A view of the newsroom from the key wall. The lighting that runs around it can actually be changed to different colors.To the left of the key wall is a secondary weather center.The editing bays continue as we move closer to the control room.Right off the newsroom (close to where Lisa and Rob were sitting) is the office of news director Kelly Duffy. Kelly comes to KOAA from California and has been at the station for about 10mos.Past Kelly’s office is the executive offices. She’s the first person I email if I have any KOAA questions.Right behind the set and just a short walk from Evan’s office is the KOAA green room. The office in the center belongs to…I left a few minutes after KOAA’s 5 p.m. newscast had started.
