A woman was arrested Wednesday after police said she allegedly broke into an apartment and started cooking herself breakfast, then was connected to another burglary nearby.

Josefina Gonsalez-Nieves, 27, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and booked into the El Paso County jail, records show.

According to police reports, a man woke up about 3 a.m. and found a woman, later identified as Gonsalez-Nieves, had entered his home in the Fountain Hill Apartments, on the 2300 block of East Fountain Boulevard, through an unlocked door and was cooking breakfast.

While officers responded to the burglary call, a second burglary-in-progress was reported from the 900 block of Hutchinson Drive, where the resident had stopped a woman who had allegedly tried to break into his house, police said.

Gonsalez-Nieves was identified as the suspect in both burglaries and was taken into custody without incident.

According to police, Gonsalez-Nieves allegedly lied about her name and was later found to have three felony arrest warrants.
