Colorado Springs family unharmed after fire

A family and two dogs escaped unharmed when a fire started in a garage attached to their home Tuesday morning, Colorado Springs fire officials said.

Heavy smoke and flames were visible from the garage attached to the residence on the 2100 block of Farnsworth Drive, off Astrozon Boulevard, when fire engines arrived about 4:20 a.m.

At least 25 firefighters battled the blaze until about 6:30 a.m., when it was extinguished, fire officials said.

Fire investigators have not determined the cause of the blaze but spokesman Capt. Steve Oswald said the home sustained minor damage and is still livable.

One adult was treated on-scene for smoke inhalation and released.
