Colorado Springs police used a stun gun to subdue a 16-year-old Doherty High School student Monday after he allegedly tried to flee from police and struck an officer on the face.

Doherty staff contacted the school resource officer about 9:45 a.m. when the male student began causing a disturbance during class, reportedly overturning a school desk, police said.

The student was allegedly combative and tried to fight police, striking one of the officers on the face with his elbow, police said.

The teen was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, resisting arrest and interference with school staff, police said.
