Colorado Springs police arrested a man accused of throwing rocks at vehicles and assaulting an officer Monday, according to police reports.

Zachary Walter Fay, 23, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault on a police officer and booked into the El Paso County jail, records show.

Witnesses told police that a man, later identified as Fay, was throwing rocks at vehicles near the intersection of Barnes Road and Oro Blanco Drive about 2:30 a.m., police said. Other callers reported the man was lying in the middle of the roadway.

Fay allegedly kicked a police officer several times while resisting arrest, police said.

Fay appeared to be under the infleunce of unknown narcotics and was taken to a local hospital for treatment and the officer was not injured, police said.
