As El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies were responding to reports of gun shots in Cimarron Hills early Tuesday morning, a man walked into a nearby fire department with a gunshot wound.

But officials have not confirmed whether the two incidents were linked.

The man, an 18-year-old, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to Memorial Hospital, said sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Greg White.

Multiple calls reporting shots fired came in about 1:20 a.m. from the 1400 block of Hathaway Drive, off North Powers Boulevard and U.S. 24, White said.

About that time, the man walked into the Cimarron Hills Fire Department off Palmer Park Boulevard, less than a mile from the area where gunfire was reported..

“The investigation is ongoing and at this time I can’t confirm the two incidents were connected,” White said.
