Jhoulys Chacin shut down by Rockies at spring training with shoulder injury

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Jhoulys Chacin, the Rockies’ No. 1 right-handed starting pitcher, has been shut down because of right shoulder inflammation.

Rockies head trainer Keith Dugger said Chacin will undergo an MRI on Monday to evaluate the shoulder. Dugger said Chacin will be out at least a week.

Dugger described the injury as inflammation of the right biceps tendon, with the irritation coming near the rotator cuff.
