Rock climbing in Clear Creek Canyon
Nestled in the heart of Clear Creek Canyon, just west of Golden, is a classic climbing sport route known as Officer Friendly.
For those unfamiliar with the lingo, a sport route is a line up a rock face that has pre-placed bolts that climbers clip into as they ascend.
Though I’ve climbed Officer Friendly totally clean in the past, without stopping (also referred to as “taking”), on Saturday I had to pause after a few bolts, right before the hardest move, to give my arms a rest. But I still finished. And I’m sure I’ll do it again some day because it’s a blast.
