Task force recommends firm to lead Drake decommissioning study
A task force on Friday recommended HDR Engineering, Inc., to conduct a study of alternatives involving the potential decommissioning of the Martin Drake Power Plant.
Nebraska-based HDR, one of six firms that submitted a proposal to conduct the study, has five offices in Colorado, including in Colorado Springs.
The firm was selected for its “depth of knowledge” of the downtown power plant and its “superior risk analysis,” among other criteria, according to a news release.
City Council members Brandy Williams and Val Snider, co-chairs of the Drake Task Force, will present the recommendation to their colleagues April 9.
