A 77-year-old Colorado Springs man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Peyton Highway near Holman Road in eastern El Paso County about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The Colorado State Patrol said Raymond G. Lippert was driving a 1986 Toyota pickup south on Peyton Highway when he lost control on the icy, snow-packed roadway.

The truck went off the roadway, hit a barbed-wire fence and then landed on its right side.

Lippert, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the state patrol said.

Lippert appears to have been driving too fast for the road conditions, the state patrol said.
